Whaling

Whaling is the act of hunting whales. Whales have been hunted over history for meat and oil. In the early 1940s, more than 50,000 whales were being killed every year, having a detrimental impact on their populations. In 1986, the International Whaling Commission banned commercial whaling hoping that whale populations might recover. Whales are found around the coasts of Galapagos.
