Alfred Wallace

Alfred Russel Wallace

Alfred Russel Wallace (1823-1913) was a British Naturalist. He is famous for independently conceiving the theory of evolution through natural selection alongside Charles Darwin. Although Wallace published a paper on natural selection in 1858, it was Darwin’s ‘On the Origin of Species’ published a year later that captured the public imagination; and it is Darwin who popular audiences would associate the theory with solely today.
