The Antarctic Plate is a tectonic plate containing the continent of Antarctica and extending outward under the surrounding oceans. It is borders to the south the Nazca Plate, which the Galapagos Islands are on. It is the fifth largest tectonic plate in the world and moves at around 1cm per year north towards the Atlantic Ocean.
